As the trek progresses on daily walks reaching a beautiful forest of rhododendron, pines, and oak trees with views of Mt. Gokyo Lake To Everest Base Camp Via Cho-La Pass trek slowly enters at famous Namche Bazaar with lovely Tibetan-style houses serving as the lodge, hotels and resorts, and excellent restaurants, where Saturday Market is held once a week.
In Namche acclimatize before heading to the higher elevation, from here walk on the gradual winding uphill with views of Mt. Everest as walks lead into green woodland to reach beautiful and scenic Gokyo Lake. At Gokyo enjoy the views of the emerald-colored lake in the shade of the world's 6th highest Mt. After a grand time in the high Khumbu valley return journey downhill to the beautiful and scenic Thyangboche Monastery area, a renowned Buddhist monastery with views of mountains. On arrival at the airport, our staff will receive you and transfer you to your hotel in the busy hub of Kathmandu. Refresh yourself in your room, after which our guide will brief you on your Gokyo Everest base camp trek.
An exciting and scenic 30-minute morning flight on a Twin Otter or Dornier to the mid-east of Nepal to Lukla, one of the world’s most unique airports with striking views of Mt Everest. From here we will trek for a few hours past Sherpa villages and through coniferous forests of rhododendron pines and oak trees to reach the Dudh-Kosi River in Phakding.
A long, gradual climb with bridge crossings from the Dudh Kosi River brings us to the entrance of Sagarmatha National Park near Monjo village. We will enjoy a pleasant walk along the river bed, leading to a climb into forested areas with views of snow-capped peaks, arriving at Namche Bazaar. The Nepalese word for Everest is Sagarmatha and the Sherpa term is Chomolungma, both of which translate to “Great Mother”.
A free day for rest and acclimatization is necessary before heading to higher areas. At Namche, explore the streets of Namche Bazaar with shops, quality restaurants, and bakeries. Namche holds a busy, colorful Saturday Market each week. It is recommended you enjoy a short walk to Everest View Hotel at the top of Namche Hill for excellent views of Everest, Ama-Dablam, and other adjoining peaks. Be sure to visit its museum full of information about the Everest and Khumbu areas.
From here, it's onward to Gokyo Lakes! The first few hours of wandering along a winding path to Kyangima near Shanasa, with chances of spotting wildlife including the national bird of Nepal, the colorful Danphe pheasant as well as musk deer, including Himalayan Tahr. Our route then diverts towards the north with a climb to reach a high ridge at Mong. We then descend to a series of switchbacks reaching Phortse Thangka, before heading uphill to Dole within a rhododendron forest which fades to juniper and conifers trees.
After Dole, we walk along a valley trail for an hour to Lhabarma Kharka at 4,325m and Luza at 4,390m. Skirting around a ridge line with glimpses of Machherma (located in the valley below) which we then descend into for lunch, acclimatization, and a short hike. Enjoy views of Mt. Cho Oyo 8,210m and other mountains flanking above Ngozumba Glacier.
Our morning walk leads to Gokyo Lake following a scenic trail to Pangka at 4,545m. We then climb on a rocky path into the ablation valley, passing the first and second lakes, to reach a third lake called Dudh Pokhari or Gokyo Lake. After lunch, we enjoy a short walk around the lake in this beautiful area with views of Mt. Cho Oyo (the world’s 6th highest) and Gyachung Kang which reflects on the emerald Gokyo Lake.
We trek to Gokyo-Ri, which offers a panorama of the world’s highest peaks from Mt Cho Oyo, Gyachung Kang, Mt Everest, Mt Lhotse, and Cholatse, Taweche, and Mt Makalu. After a mesmerizing time at Gokyo Ri, we descend to Gokyo for lunch and enjoy a short walk beneath the Ngozumba Glacier to Thagnak with the rest of the afternoon to enjoy at leisure.
Starting before dawn, we have a long climb over rocky moraine in snowy conditions to the top of Cho-la Pass. It can be difficult to find the right path in snow and ice before reaching the top enclosed by Cholatse, Nirekha, and Taboche peaks. After a hard climb to the top, we descend to a small valley at Dzong-la for the night.
After a pleasant stop at Dzongla, our morning walk leads to a short but steep climb with excellent views before a gradual uphill trail to reach the top of Thugla, where massive Khumbu glaciers melt into raging rivers. We will enjoy a break before a nice walk leads us to Lobuche for the night with sunset views of Nuptse and Lobuche peaks.
Today our adventure takes us to Everest Base Camp, our main goal and highlight of the trip! After walking for a few hours with short, steep climbs in between glaciers and moraines, we reach Gorakshep, beneath the lofty peak of Pumori and Kalapathar rocky hill. Our walk continues towards Everest Base Camp, where we enjoy views of the massive Khumbu Ice Fall and glaciers. After the experience of a lifetime, we retrace the journey back to Gorakshep for the night.
An early morning start takes us to Kalapathar rocky hill, the highest point of our adventure with a fantastic panorama of mountains facing Mt. Everest at a close distance. We then descend back to Gorakshep for breakfast and continue to Thugla, then downhill to Pheriche, around a winding scenic valley and arrive at Pheriche village.
Today, our walk leads to Thyangboche Monastery, with time to enjoy this beautiful area. From here, we walk downhill to a river, with an hour uphill of pleasant trekking back to Namche Bazaar.
The last day of our adventure takes us on a long descent on the same route towards the Sagarmatha National Park entrance to reach Monjo village. The gradual trail crosses bridges to reach Phakding then onward to our final climb to Lukla for the night.
Our 30-minute flight will take us back to busy Kathmandu for a free afternoon to rest, recover and reflect on the great, adventurous trek to Gokyo Lake, Mount Everest, and Cho La Pass.
Your final and last day in amazing Nepal in the country of high Himalayas wonders and enjoying remarkable times and adventure on Gokyo Lake To Everest Base Camp via Cho-La Pass Trekking, depart from the hotel for your onward journey flying homeward bound.
Note: Please note that Bad weather has been a recurring problem at Lukla, domestic flights to/luk may have to be delayed or even canceled for a day or more. in the last few years and caused a lot of trouble with flight cancellations during the high season march to May or Sep to Nov, we would like to strongly suggest that you have a couple of spare days at the end of the trek,

What type of meals available during the Gokyo lake Everest Base camp trek?
Most items served at teahouses are freshly prepared and healthy.
For breakfast: they serve oats, Tibetan bread, chappati, bread, hash browns, and eggs in different styles. You will also have a choice of tea or coffee.
For lunch and dinner, there are plenty of dishes available, like fried noodles, traditional dal-bhat (typical Nepali food) Sherpa stew, steamed or fried Mo: Mo (dumplings with vegetable or meat filling), pasta, pizza, paratha, burgers, and more. Those who are vegan will be pleased to hear that the food available on the trek is suitable for your dietary needs
Is there a laundry service during the Gokyo lake Everest Base camp trek?
You will be able to get laundry services in Namche. You won’t get this service in other parts of the Everest base camp trek. If you are really necessary to do laundry your cloth you will have to personally wash and tend them. We recommend you bring an extra set of clothing as per necessity.
How difficult is Gokyo Lake Everest Base Camp trek?
Regarding the difficulty, the only challenging factor is the altitude. It is not always the trails that make it hard to walk, rather it is the altitude and less oxygen level that make the trek hard. Our Gokyo Lake Everest Base Camp Trekking package is the most appropriate package. The Trekker walks 5 to 6hrs every day during the trek. The distance will be 10 to 12 km every day.
What is the weight limitation in Kathmandu to Lukla flight?
The flight from Kathmandu to Lukla and the return flights have baggage limitations by the airline company for safety reasons. Each passenger allows 15 kg total weight including check-in and hand luggage. there are able to carry 2/3 more extra kg with an additional charge for emergency cases.

Can I go to Gokyo Lake Everest Base Camp trek without any trekking experience?
We recommend retaining basic physical and mental fitness to climb the Gokyo Lake Everest Base Camp trek. In the last few decades where most of the rural villages do have proper communication wither by cell- phone (mobile our guides will be in touch with the head office through their cell phone. Sometimes Cell-Phone does work and don'ts as Nepal is a hilly and mountainous country with a deep gorge and valley, where cell phone works on high hills, and might not when in a deep gorge hidden by hills and mountains. The chances of a working cell phone are most positive you can try using a local popular SiM card.
Do I need to buy all the trekking equipment myself?
You should bring all the trekking equipment you need yourself. Trekkers can bring equipment from their hometown, but their costs can be high, so buying them from local shops in Thamel Kathmandu is the right decision. There are some shops that also rent essential hiking gear for a small price. We will provide you with a duffel bag.
